We recently completed a pine floor renovation for a home in Woodstock, Georgia. These vintage boards carried lots of character—wide gaps, knots, and classic aged patina—but years of wear had left them looking worn and dull.
We used traditional oil-based urethane in a satin finish, applying thick coats to deeply penetrate the soft pine. This method highlights the natural grain, fills minor imperfections, and delivers a warm, durable glow that water-based finishes can’t match. The result: floors that look brand new while preserving every bit of their original charm and personality.
Oil-based polyurethane is ideal for soft woods like pine. It provides excellent scratch resistance, adds rich depth to the grain, and holds up well in high-traffic areas. We love how it enhances the natural gaps and imperfections instead of trying to hide them.
