5" Base Red Oak Box Newel 4291ADJ- Unfinished x 5"x55" Base

This adjustable red oak box newel has a 5" x 55" base and ships unfinished so it can be stained on site to match your stairs.

What you're looking at here is actually two pieces: the full post with its stepped pyramid cap and necking detail, and a separate, shorter base block finished with the same reveal ring, which is what makes this one adjustable to the finished floor height on site instead of getting cut and re-capped after the fact. Both pieces come in the same pale, raw red oak, straight-grained and a little more open-pored than you'd expect if you've only handled maple or poplar trim before. At a 5" base it's a heavier, more substantial post than the 3-1/2" version, the kind you'd use at the bottom of a staircase as the anchor post rather than partway up a rail run, especially where the floor build-up isn't finalized yet.
